WVU Student Government

Through my involvement with other student organizations, I became friends with several members of student government from various administrations. I didn’t get directly involved with SGA until my senior year, when I was appointed as one of the Executive Directors of Neighborhood Associations. This was the first year the positions had been created, and so a lot of trailblazing had to be done by my co-chair Alex Folio and I. Our duties primarily consisted of contacting the various neighborhood associations, determining which were active, and identifying the level of student involvement within the organizations. Additional end goals were self determined by myself and confirmed by Alex, but unfortunately we were unable to complete all of them. My highest achievement was working with community members to establish an Inclusive City Commission in Morgantown.

At some point during the 2011-2012 school year, my good friends Ben and Isabelle informed me that they would not be running again for SGA governor seats the following year. Ryan Campione had also voiced concerns to me that he might not run, and asked me to consider a position on the ticket. Another of the Golden Ticket members dropped off, and Rashad Bates came to me and asked if I would join his team. Having worked with Rashad and his VP pick Devon Sears in the past, I accepted their offer even though I had previously declined an offer from the 2012-2013 student body president, Zach Redding. It was a very intense month of signature gathering and campaigning, an experience which will serve me well many years into my future. I am happy to say now that even though Ryan was the only member of the Golden Ticket to get elected in 2012, the Campione/Seebaugh ticket was an overwhelming success in 2013 under the name of the Revolution!
