Hello all!

After embarrassingly letting my domain name expire, I finally got the site back up and running! Unfortunately I had to use a backup file from 2013, so my most recent posts and updates are missing.

I’ll be updating and revamping the website accordingly. Stay tuned!

Hellooooooo July!

As a Leo, I welcome July as my birth month and the peak of Summer! Heat waves and unpredictable weather make this month even more tumultuous than March. This time last year I was in Philly hearing through various media sources that West Virginia had just been rocked by an intense summer storm. Driving home on those country roads I saw service trucks by the hundreds and numerous yet spotty power outages. Miraculously Morgantown had been spared, but my family in Elkins was not so fortunate. My mother is always prepared however, and had a plethora of non-perishables and water.

Forsaking modern technology, myself and a few friends receded to Blue Hole on the Cheat River. Blue Hole is a magical place where one can socialize at a crazy party scene in the woods or retreat to one of the more serene camping locations. This year we plan to repeat the adventure, two times makes a tradition! My beloved state has many rivers that are clean enough to swim in, and this year I will not take such opportunities for granted. The world is changing too fast to miss the simple things in life that make me happy.

After I emerge from the woods this year, I will be immediately whisked away to an Aerosmith concert. Now since I was named Tyler after their lead singer, it seems fitting that I should see them for the first time in my birthmonth. They were obviously one of my mother’s favorite bands, and this experience is one item on her bucket list of life’s joys she would like to experience if the worst should happen and we are unable to find a compatible kidney donor. Hopefully we will be able to share many more adventures before either of us leave this world. Even without being bombarded by fatal illnesses, we know now that in life you should always live like you are dying.

This month I will not hold back! My new business Sungrow LLC officially starts today, and will be on it’s feet running by the end of the month. I shall find a better job with higher pay and health insurance, because I sure didn’t get two engineering degrees to be scraping by and hoping I don’t get injured. While I may not find love, I hope this month may fruit in some summer froliking. Life is short and moves ever faster. This month I will not just watch it pass me by!

Peace, love, and determination
Tyler

Summer has definitely arrived! The heat waves are more frequent with higher temperatures, trees are becoming lush, Morgantown is finally quiet, and once again I have moved into a new house. Life seems to put me in a constant shuffle, forcing me to re-evaluate not only my material possessions, but my priorities and lifestyle choices. Many good friends are now alumni from WVU and other colleges, while others are already knee deep in a subsequent phase of education. What is the next step for me?

It has come to my attention through the advice of elders and my own pondering that I need to view my choices in life less as individual steps but as a pathway ultimately culminating in some form of a legacy. Decisions about a new job, or even a career path, are too short sighted if I am to be where I want to be in a decade. While I have had visions of greatness and fancied a few impractical tasks I would like to accomplish in my lifetime, no central course has been guiding me. Life is in fact nothing like the game of Life, but is instead similar to a massive game of chess where most of us are merely pawns. We often plod forward heedless of the dangers around us, and a few brave souls even sacrifice themselves to a cause they believe in along the way. To truly succeed in life however, one has to play smart all the way to the end game. Those able to reach the other side of the board early will be blessed with prosperity until the end of days.

Much has yet to be done!
Until next time,

Now seems another appropriate point to check in. First off, I was not accepted for the Environment America Fellowship in DC. Instead, Berkeley and I are signing a lease to a new house in Morgantown. For the time being I shall continue my work for Eco Structures, and re-evaluate where I want to be a year from now.

At the moment I am in my hotel room in Huntington, waiting in eager anticipation for a delicious meal that is part of the Young Democrats conference here. Elections are tomorrow, and a few prospective positions have changed hands in an attempt to secure statewide cooperation among the Young Dems. Through the blur of our caucus meetings this morning I was “elected” as environmental caucus chair. I’m sure things will continue to develop as the evening goes on, but that has yet to be seen.

I’ll update again soon, but until then, chao!

Thanks to my good friend Drew, this site is now back up and running!

*Certain pages will be restricted for now, until I have them updated.

This seems to me like a significant landmark moment in my life, and will use this first post to make a note on the state of things.

I am a recent graduate from WVU with two degrees in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. I am currently employed for a company called Eco Structures, and am building an environmentally friendly timber frame home on one of the mountains at Cheat Lake. Ever looking towards the future,  my plans now completely hinge on my acceptance to a political organizing position with Environment America in Washington, DC.

Through a few miracles and a ton of excellent doctors and kind people, my little sister  Cherish has survived a long battle with Leukemia. Now at full recovery, she is going to be an incoming freshman this fall at Elkins High School. Unfortunately, my mother has taken a turn for the worse and is in the process of remedying several health complications. The most severe of these issues is kidney failure resulting in her currently placing her chances of survival of on a transplant list and in the hands of a team of specialists in Baltimore.

On the other hand, each of my brothers are doing quite well. My elder brother  Chris  has been promoted a good bit at his job, and that combined with working a lot of hours has allowed him to acquire things such as his new Harley Davidson! Lou is still rocking the drums and girls, but also has his head thinking towards the future. He is going to enroll at WVU to pursue computer engineering and game design, and I’m sure once he gets there will find himself doing so much more.

Speaking of doing so much more, I should probably get back to tweaking this shiznit!

Over and out,

DTG
